I have a small setup. My mic is in the same room as my productionstuff. I am planning to buy these items. Will they help me eliminate noise and give me clear sounding vocals. 1)ART Preamp 2)Behringer Noise Gate 3)T.C. Electronic multi effects (cheap one). I also wanted to know if i buy a triton or any other kind of synth hook it up with a midi 8x8 card does that mean when i record the synth can i control the synth sounds with a piano roll in cubase or fruity loops?

Since this is more of a general bunch of questions than a Creation Station specific one, I've moved your topic over here to "The Control Room".
You may get more responses in this forum.

I wouldn't bother with the noise gate. You want to capture all of the sound you can and clean it up later. You might need an isolation box for your computer if it's making too much noise. If you're running a computer based recording system, you can use a plugin to gate the noise after you record it. If you you gate it going in, you can never undo it. I would rather combine the money from the gate and the mic pre and buy a better mic pre like the Focusrite Trackmaster Pro that will give you a better mic pre, eq and compression. You'll have a much better recording rig for it. Basically try to do as little as possible to the sound you record in. Sometimes a vocal might need slight compression if the singer changes volume a lot in a song. Otherwise, try to get the cleanest recording you can.
Sorry, I can't help with your other questions.
