View Full Version : Noise Reduction for Film-Post Suggestions?

Hey all, I've been using DINR for most of my recent post work to do basic dialog and FX clean-up. Of course I spend a ton of time getting it as clean as possible, but sometimes you just need noise reduction. Sometimes even for preparing the guide track for ADR, just so the overdubbed vocals will lock nicer - I find that cleaning up the reference track as much as possible let's VocAlign lock up the two pieces of dialog much nicer.

What do you use? Is DINR really all I'll need, especially if I have the ability to do ADR in post? I've heard of people using the Cedar DNS1000 and DNS2000 systems, but it seems quite over the top when I know DINR does a fine job to my ears.

I was speaking with one of the ADR recordists at Park Road Post in New Zealand (Pete Jackson's studio) and they told me that DINR is all they've ever needed. Not too shabby for a plug-in worth $995 versus the hardware on the market going for thousands.

What's your input?
