I have been advised to purchase an AudioMedia III soundcard. While i trust the advise, i am unable to research the product. Furthurmore, the person who advised me is unavailable for the time being.

I am primarily using my pc for sequencing softsynths. While processing many effects. Generally pushing my cpu to over 90% usage.

specs:

pIII 933
512m RAM
Roland xp30, Yamaha DJX
Logic, Orion (beta), FruityLoops 3.5 (beta), SF's Vegas V v3.0, Acid 3.0.
NI's Pro52, FM7, Model-E.
Waves Gold 3.01, Ultrafunk Sonitus vol.1+2, Steinberg GRM tools vol. 1

my current soundcard is a joke (sblive! - ha!), and i really didn't realise the loss of quality until i recently decided to start recording some vocals.

I don't think they're even making the AudiomediaIII anymore. The new MBox has replaced it in their "super-cheap" category. It's a much better deal anyways. The AMIII has 18bit converters that, although they were fairly respectable at 18bits, has a limited dynamic range. The MBox has 24 bit converters (with specs that are better than the Digi001) and "Focusrite" mic preamps in case you want to karaoke over your sequences. The problem is (for Wintel users, anyway) that the Windows version hasn't been released yet. (Maybe they're busy making it XP friendly?.... probably not)
