multiple software synths on Powerbook

I'm about to purchase a G4 powerbook and a couple of software synths. I was wondering if I will be able to use two software synths at the same time on two different controller keyboards 'live'. If so:

1. What kind of specs would I need on the G4 powerbook?
2. How would I go about hooking this up?(I'm a newbie)
