can the Tascam fw1082 be interfaced with protools le and M-Powered

No, it can't. Pro Tools LE requires either an MBox2 or Digi002. Pro Tools M-Powered only works with M-Audio interfaces.

yes i know u need to have the M-Box or the M-Box2 but i also know that you can control protools le using HUI file....now i was just asking if i had the M-Box2 could i connet the FW1082 to it and control protools instead of using the FireWire Port

One more question i was reading that you could use the Digidesign Midi I/O with Protools LE is there any other Protools HD hardware that works with LE

The answer is yes, then. It will work in HUI emulation mode as a control surface for Pro Tools LE.

Regarding Pro Tools HD hardware with LE software... None of the Pro Tools HD interfaces (192io, 96io, etc) will work with Pro Tools LE. Neither will the Sync IO. The ICON control surfaces (D-Command and D-Control) don't work.

The Avid Mojo and the Digidelivery servers will work, along with the Control 24 control surface. I think that just about covers all of the options...

Ok well here is what made me believe that the Midi I/O works on protools le for the intel based mac's

Digidesign MIDI I/O
The drivers for the MIDI I/O are installed during Pro Tools installation, either from the Pro Tools 7 Web Installer or the Pro Tools 7 CD:

Run the Pro Tools 7 LE or M-Powered installer application

Follow the prompts in the installer application

A standalone installer of the MIDI I/O drivers or Intel-based Macs is also available below

The MIDI I/O does work on Pro Tools LE. It's the only piece of Digidesign hardware with the Pro Tools HD "look" that does, though.

Ok thanks. Also do you know if the TC PowerCore Compact works with protools le because it does not say on their website the have protools HD and couple other names then they just have and many more

The TC Power Core works as a VST plugin. It is not natively supported by Pro Tools. You have to use the FXPansion VST to RTAS wrapper (http://www.sweetwater.com/vstrtaswrap/) to get it to work.

all this talking bout protools made me have some crazy ideas on experimenting with protools LE i just did a little reading and i found out that the Hardwares such as The DIGI 192 I/0 and the DIGI 96i I/O along with the other I/O can be supported by the Core Audio drive and then i looked at the DIGI Pre and it could not work on Core Audio and i also watched the Icon and it cant work on Core Audio (software) but it works on HD.So then i searched for core audio and i read that it is

The Digidesign CoreAudio Driver is a multichannel sound driver that allows CoreAudio-compatible applications to record and play back through the following Digidesign audio interfaces : Pro Tools|HD, Digi 002, Digi 002 Rack, MBox

The thing that caught my attention was that it had Protools HD and all the Le interfaces listed for the Interfaces that supports it so then it came to mind that this means the I/O devices can be supported on Protools LE if i am not wrong....Why else would it have the LE interfaces listed if it cant be supported by Protools LE and thats the Only software that supports these interfaces.Correct me if i am wrong and if i am not wrong the people that did not know that but always wanted an I/O from digidesign but thought it only worked on HD when they had LE they can now get it.I may be wrong but this was good research for me

Digidesign has done this for years. While you can't use some other audio interface to get audio in and out of Pro Tools, you can use a Digidesign interface (whether LE or HD) to get audio to and from other applications.

I have a Digi002R at home, and it's my only interface. I use it for Pro Tools, iTunes, and even Sonar now that I'm running Windows XP on my Mac in addition to OSX.

well the basic point i was trying to bring across was that you could use the protools LE hardware and interface it with A protools HD I/O device and use them on protools LE using CoreAudio drivers

JeffBarnett

No, you can't do that... Pro Tools doesn't use Core Audio drivers. they just provide them to make their hardware accessible by other apps.

But aside from that... the only way to hook up a Pro Tools HD interface to a computer is to plug it into an HD card with a Digilink cable. If you buy an HD card, you get Pro Tools HD software. And if you have Pro Tools HD software, why would you want to use Pro Tools LE anyway?

Well firstly Protools HD is to expensive and i certainly dont need a hundread plus audio Channels even the Big studios and Big budget albums dont need all this Channels....I know that they have more plugins but mostly all the plugins have an RTAS format well the ones you would need for recording and the different hardware and the processing i could use a TC Powercore interface to use as the DSP

Anyway do you know if it works with reason

All well and good, but my point is that Pro Tools HD interfaces, and the cards that are required to plug them in, are a significant investment, as you pointed out. If you are going to go to the trouble and expense of buying all that hardware, why not use the software that comes with it?

And yes, all versions of Pro Tools work with Reason.

i am not talking about Protools i am talking about the FW1084 i was asking does the FW1084 work with Reason as a control surface for the mixer
