Hi,

I recently bought a Presonus Firebox and have a question about keeping it powered up. There's no on/off switch and I'm just wondering if it's OK to keep it plugged in (firewire) all the time, or do I have to unplug the firewire cable everytime I want to use it. I find I sit down 2 or 3 times a day to record something quickly and I'm not sure I should be plugging and unplugging it that often. But, if I just leave it plugged in, it seems like it gets pretty hot. Advice?

Thanks,

Rodger

I'd maybe buy a power strip and plug it into that so I can turn it off and on with that. I usually don't like leaving on my recording gear if it's not in use. But my computers stay on 24/7. Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply, EC, but I'm not using AC power with it. It's powered by the Firewire cable. That's the one I have to keep plugging in and unplugging.

Thanks,

Rodger

It's fine to leave it plugged in and powered up. You'll have way more stability this way than if you try to connect it every time you want to use it.

Thanks for your help. I'll leave it plugged in. That'll make life easier!
