The Sound Blaster / Audigy / X-fi cards are geared towards gaming and home theater. They're more focused on playback than professional recording.
The recording capabilties they do have are mainly for hobbyist use, or for recording from a portable device into .wav or .mp3.

You'll find better stability and driver support from a professional grade interface instead of a pro-sumer or consumer piece like the X-fi.

I hear that the X-Fi series is far better than the old cards from Creative, but they're still not meant for recording at all. It really depends on what you want to do with the card. Like Arbiter mentioned, if you want gaming or to listen to a few mp3's, the X-Fi is fine (and far better for games, due to the way it processes audio). If you want recording, look elsewhere. For instance, that Delta 1010 has 10 inputs and outputs, I believe, whereas the creative would basically only be able to do 2 in, I believe.

A little more background on this. The X-fi is built around a DSP chip that's engineered to do two things really well. Gaming and Home theater. Most of it's power is engineered around processing positional audio for gamers, things like placing sound effects like gunshots or creature noises in 3d space, and adding environmental modeling like echoes and distortion to sound effects.

The home theater features are geared for taking DVD's or compressed movies or audio formats and outputting them to desktop speakers or a surround receiver.

So, it's a great card for those jobs, but not really for recording at a professional level.
