Ext. hard drive problem

Hi

Im using a windows machine for PT recording.
I have a standard 3 port firewire PCI card installed. (working, and recognized under device manager)

I have a LaCie external hard drive I am trying to plug into that PCI card. When I do, the system recognizes the drive in the taskbar in the "Safely Remove Hardware" dialog box. Also, under device manager, under the "disk drives" pulldown, the LaCie is listed. However, Its not in My Computer and I can't seem to access the actual drive...

What am I doing wrong?

Is the drive formatted?

If this is the first time you've used the drive, you may need to format it.
If you've already been using it, you may have a different problem, so don't format it, or you'll lose your data.
