I recently bought a Laptop but when i went to plug in my Digi Rack, which plugs into a firewire port... i discovered it had none... what can i do? My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv5129us Notebook PC... It seems to have all the other different ports and the laptop seems pretty top of the line... why doesnt it have a firewire port?

I found a little port that has the little firewire logo... the size is not the same however... my cable is a lot bigger than the port.... the port seems to be the one where you plug in digital cameras and such... although im not sure... is theres soome kind of adapter that i can buy for that?
Yes, this is most likely what is known as a four pin port. The port on your Digi interface is a six pin port. You can buy an adaptor to go between them, or you can buy a 4 pin to 6 pin cable if you don't want to use an adaptor.

DAS is correct. However, the 4 pin firewire that you have wont carry the same voltage as its 6 pin counterpart. So if you adapt it may not work very well, or at all with the Digi hardware. So I'd get a PCIMCIA firewire adapter card, there like $40, and carry all the perks as if it were on a desktop.
Try it first though - it may work, and it doesn't cost much to try it.
I found a nice little explanation of the differences of Firewire here at Ohio State University's tech support center. Just in case you wanted more detailed info regarding it.
