Are you looking at the current Classic II or the older Classic (maybe it should be called the "Classic Classic")?

I have the original Rode Classic and I love it. I wouldn't call it flat, but it has a beautiful, "airy" top. It sounds the way you would EQ a vocal for a mix - warm, detailed, and present w/o that Neumann bite. It sounds great on acoustic too. I got mine on ebay for $775.
