I am getting a new 733 some time next week and I know it doesn't have an audio input. I need to know what I need to get to record midi as well as digital audio. I don't need to record more than two tracks of audio at a time, I want to keep my set-up simple - so I don't need a 1212 or 10 midi in/outs. Right now I have a 1 in and 3 out and that is plenty. For the audio I keep seeing the iMic. http://www.griffintechnology.com/audio/imic_main.html Is this something I should look into? Has anyone used this? Latency problems? Any and all advice is welcome. I am eger to be up and running by next weekend. Thank You very much!!!

I think you need to look at the USB audio/MIDI devices from MIDIMAN and EDIROL (Roland). I believe Tascam also makes some USB audio/MIDI hardware. I'm not up on all the latest models & their features; just go to the websites of the manufacturers above to see which device fits your needs. I'm sure Sweetwater will be happy to sell it to you. :D

I'm guessing here, but I suspect that the iMic isn't so good at latency. I think the idea is to provide a cheap way of getting decent enough audio into the G4. In a sense, the iMic would be better quality than a standard cheap soundcards minijack input as the iMic resides away from the electrical hum of the speaker and therefore it should provide a cleaner sound than those little minijacks. I have heard people having problems with them although that could have as much to do with the first drivers that came out for it. Haven't heard much recently. Go ask around.

If you have some spare money for this project, you could consider a dedicated PCI audio card. Some of them are quite cheap now despite offering 24/96 quality recording.
