I posted this in the other forum, but figured I would be safe ane post it here also.

I am debating between purchasing the Tascam 2000 CD burner or one of the HHB's (850 or 830). Does anyone have any input they could provide as far as which unit is better, reliable, best convertors, etc? Appreciate any help so I can finally decided which one I want to purchase.. thanks..

in an A/B test, i thought the HHB sounded better. the HHB loads and finalizes slowly, but at least it has skip on the front pannell... i'd take it over the tascram, but look into the sony CDRW-33 - they sound as good as the HHB, with a few more features!

Well, both manufacturers make great products that sound good, are rock-solid, and have a lot of features. What are your recorder needs? What has you looking at these two lines? Personally, I've always liked Tascam stuff as an engineer... just used their products for years and have been happy with it in the studio. Have you looked into the Sony CDRW66 if you're looking at the CDRW2000?

Thanks for your help. I actually ordered the Tascam 2000 today from you guys.. I was considering the Sony but I wasn't quite sure if it was as good. My friend has one at the radio station he works for and he said theirs "eats CD's". I am primarly using it for mastering CD's which will be professionally duplicated. Are the Sony and the Tascam practically the same thing?

You'll like the CDRW2000.... one of our best sellers and heavily depended on by many pro clients of our's out there, so you're in good company.

Dexterity:
If you want to burn master CD's, then could you imagine that actually, the Masterlink is a hell of a CD burner, if you want to burn from AIFF or WAV files.
It is slow, no doubt about it, but the sound is very sweet and special since it burns master CD's with Red Book protocol. I have not get any better result than that. For less than a thousand dollars, you get a burner and a HD dat machine as well with very decent ADA converters.:)
