Equpment for ADR and Post production

Hi Guys
I've been using analog Betacam SPs to get the cartoon masters then record the audio on the betacam and then mix it with the international M&E that comes with the tape
the tv channel that takes the episodes uses a Pinaccle DC2000 capture card then captures the video and audio from the Betacam to a MPEG2 file


Now I need to upgrade
I need to use the digital realm with all its possibilities
I want to get rid of Betacams

I started by bringing a hardware synchronizer and syncing the Nuendo Projects with the betacam. So I can use all the software virtual tracks I need then mix them to the Betacam Channel..
But still ... I'm using the Betacam

I'm not that good regarding video capturing cards,codecs and other stuff

Now i'm thiking of getting rid of betacams and using full digital solutions

If anyone can help me...
I need a capturing card that capures the video source but keeping the quality

I need a full system solution so i can get the best quality for ADR and Post Production

Dude,
why would you want to get rid of your Beta Sp? those things are still in use, and still worth money. Does your Beta have the abillty to insert audio and generate TC? working with a digital video file is a great way to work. You can check out a canopus video capture card, they do a decent job. They way we used to work was to capture the video using the canopus card, even using somthing like I-movie. I had the TC display on. Then in I-movie you can export a Quicktime or dv stream (dv works bets with Pro tools). then in my workstation I would bring in the movie, and spot it to the exact timecode location in the session, that way the digital file is in the exact same address as what the beta video is at. for instance 01:22:30:23 on the beta tape would be the exact same location as the digital video file was in the session. with the canopus card, you can send the digital video output to a separate monitor to view in a larger area rather then just on your computer monitor, Work non linear, then when you are ready to layback to your beta, you will just have to have your Daw and your beta synced by timecode and layback, and the audio should line up exactly with the video. I would still keep your beta if you can, but if you are wanting to get rid of it, name your price, and I just may buy it off of you!
