This is such a basic question, I'm a bit embarrassed, but what the heck.
I recently finished a long family interview project using Deck 2.63 by BIAS. The interview material was gathered in the field using a Tascam DA-P1 DAT recorder. I added commentary using a Neumann M147.
Listening back, it all sounded fine and I shipped the project out as XMas presents. Later, when I heard it played on our car's cassette,I was shocked. My commentary sounded as though it was recorded through a toilet tube! Low and rumbly. Now I know you're supposed to check a mix out on different systems BEFORE you master it... and I will next time... but why the difference in the sounds?
Any tips would be appreciated.
