during a recent move, one of my wonderful friends packed my yamaha ns10m monitors - not very well .. and the cone of the speaker is kinda pushed in a bit .. not really a noticeable sound impairment, but i'd like to have it look normal .. anyone have a tip for getting the speaker pushed back out or something? thanks!

I've heard of people successfully using a vaccume to rescue caved in tweetwers, perhaps this would work for you ?

As I'm sure you've heard the NS10's have been discontinued. I'd call a few places (if there are any that still have components for those) and stock up on a few for the future just in case. Discontinued items are hard to get ahold of I hear =) Good luck

yeah i'd heard about the discontinuation .. i suppose it was time .. i'll maybe delicately try to see if a vaccuum wont rip the cone out, and also try to get some parts .. any places in particular i should check out?

You could try Yamaha customer service or Marty Faley at Sweetwater's parts department 1-800-222-4700 ext 1417
He might have some suggestions.

As an aside....The NS10's were discontinued only because the company that supplied the white pulp for the cone isn't making it anymore. Apparently the character of the NS10's derives from the combination of that specific pulp in combination with the other components. No other pulp would do I guess.

good luck.

Marty can hook you up. Yamaha is backordered on the tweeters now, but we have a bunch on order. I'd advise you to get on the list (and maybe order a spare while you're at it).

slightly off the subject, but definately related.. Auralex actually sells a "tweetwer protection kit" specifically made for the ns10s. I think they are only $75 or so for a pair. Its a passive device that doesn't affect the sound, but will kick in like a circuit breaker before the tweeter blows.

are you talking about the woofer? the dust cap or the cone? if its the dust cap [in the middle] you can use tape and simply pull it back out.
