It was just too tempting not to...
While Pro Tools has been a key component in our recording facility's arsenal for some time now, like many professional studios, we relied on a great analog console to handle much of the mixing. However, when Digidesign showed us their new ICON system featuring the D-Control, we felt strongly that the time to move to a fully integrated Pro Tools system (one where tracking, editing, processing AND mixing all happened in the same environment) was finally at hand. In the process of installing our new ICON system, we took the time to revamp our entire Studio A with a fresh coat of paint, new flooring and Auralex acoustic treatment. Interestingly, at this point the only outboard gear in Studio A is a couple of dozen mic preamps, ranging from the multichannel PreSonus DigiMax to Focusrite's innovative Liquid Channel; everything else is happening in software! Finally, in addition to adding more power and flexibility for our studio customers, installing the new ICON system in Studio A offers the latest and greatest training ground for our Sales Engineers. When it comes to tracking, mixing, editing and processing, our Studio A continues to run with the best.
Many customers have been curious about what it really takes to put an ICON system into their studio. What follows is a photo journal of the process that we went through here at Sweetwater. We hope that it answers many of your questions. Please give us a call at 1-800-222-4700 for more information. |
