A Revolution in Guitar Technology

The Gibson Digital Guitar System delivers all the tone, feel, and power you'd expect from a premium-quality Gibson instrument. But it doesn't stop there. Thanks to its Hex pickup, onboard analog-to-digital conversion, and Gibson's unique MaGIC technology, the Digital Guitar allows you to step beyond traditional limitations and into a whole new world of tonal options.

6 Reasons Why the Gibson Digital Guitar Is Unique

A Real Les Paul:

At its heart, the HD.6X-PRO is 100% Les Paul. Everything you love about the LP is here: the mahogany body, the slim neck, the Humbucking pickups, the volume and tone controls. In fact, you can bypass the digital features completely and plug the HD.6X-PRO directly into an amp for a classic Les Paul playing experience.

- 490R (neck) and 498T (bridge) humbuckers
- Mahogany body and neck
- Unique knurled tuners

Hex Pickup:

A unique part of the Gibson Digital Guitar system is its Hex pickup, which offers a discrete output for each of the six strings of the HD.6X-PRO. This provides unprecedented control with the capability to adjust volume, pan, and equalization of each string individually. It also permits separate effects processing or amplification for each string. The options are mind-boggling!

- Six individual mini-Humbucking pickups
- 90dB of separation between strings
- Non-intrusive - sits between rear pickup and bridge

Onboard A/D Converter:

Gibson developed a high-quality analog-to-digital converter for installation inside the HD.6X-PRO. It takes the signals from the Humbucking and Hex pickups and converts them to 24-bit digital audio that's completely free from interference. Thanks to this digital process, you can transmit the guitar's signal up to 100 meters via a Cat 5 cable, with no noise or dropouts - none of the problems inherent with a traditional guitar cord!

- 24-bit analog-to-digital signal conversion
- Provides dropout-free, noise-free transmission
- Powered via Ethernet cable - no batteries needed

Jack Plate:

Here's the only visual clue that the HD.6X-PRO is more than "just" a Les Paul. The Jack Plate gives you extended connectivity, with a standard 1/4" jack for Classic Mode and a digital jack for the Cat 5 cable. In addition, you'll find two additional connectors: a 1/8" microphone input (with signal carried through Cat 5 cable), and a headphone output with its own level control. That's right - you can monitor in stereo right from your guitar!

- RJ-45 Ethernet jack carries digital signal
- Also includes 1/4" analog output
- Mic input and headphone output

Breakout Box:

An essential component of the Gibson Digital Guitar is the Breakout Box (BoB), the input/output hub for the system. BoB takes all of those clean digital audio streams and converts them to analog for the most perfectly rendered sound imaginable. BoB can route your signal to two, three, or even six standard guitar amplifiers. Or, connect BoB using the included snake to a mixing console or audio interface for recording. Through its intuitive input recognition feature, BoB automatically detects which outputs you're using, counts them up and routes your signals accordingly.

- Pristine digital-to-analog conversion
- Also includes mono and stereo outputs
- Automatically detects which outputs you're using

MaGIC Technology:

Gibson Labs developed Media-accelerated Global Information Carrier (MaGIC), an Ethernet media delivery system, to open up a new world of possibilities for the musician. It's designed to replace all wiring systems in both the musical instrument fields and consumer electronic applications. MaGIC in the Gibson Digital Guitar carries eight output channels - one for each string, plus Classic Mode and microphone signals - and two input channels for stereo monitoring, all over a single cable.

- A new standard for digital audio routing
- Carries guitar and mic outputs plus monitor inputs
- Allows very long cable runs with no degradation of signal
