Initial Inspection - Nearly every guitar and bass that arrives at Sweetwater is inspected by one of our guitar experts before it gets added to our inventory. This ensures that our guitar inventory is always up to Sweetwater standards.

Lights, Camera, Action - Next, instruments that have unique characteristics from guitar to guitar in a given make and model are prepared and photographed for our online Guitar Gallery. This gives you the opportunity to view the actual guitars we have in stock (and their individual wood grain, finishes, etc.) so you can decide which to purchase.





Sweetwater Inventory - Instead of hanging on a store wall for months where they can be "played," all but a few select instruments are then safely stored in our clean, climate-controlled warehouse where the only hands they'll see are on Sweetwater's team of guitar professionals.

 

 

55-Point Inspection - Finally, nearly each and every guitar or bass goes through an extensive 55-Point Evaluation Checklist before it ships out to your door. At this stage, we're taking a more microscopic look at your new instrument, fine-tuning and testing its operation and preparing it to be sent out to you. While we highly recommend a more in-depth set up with a luthier of your choice once it arrives, when your new guitar leaves Sweetwater you can rest assured that it's been handled with great care and looked over by a knowledgeable guitar professional.

 

Exclusive 55-Point Guitar Evaluation Checklist
1. Stretch strings numerous times until stable tuning is achieved.
2. Play open strings. Check for buzz.
3. Check action and set to spec.
4. Check intonation.
5. Play chromatic across the neck. Check for buzz.
6. Play chromatic up each string. Check for buzz.
7. Play 1/2 step bends.
8. Play extreme bends.
9. Play a variety of chords and styles of music.

10. Check for smooth and noiseless operation of pots and switches.
11. Check plug fit in output jack.
12. Check pickup height.
13. Piezo functions operating correctly?
14. MIDI functions operating correctly?
15. Check S1 Switching.

16. Check for smooth operating vibrato with correct sharp and flat range.
17. Check for flawless operation of vibrato.
18. Make sure it passes shake and vibration test.
19. Tighten hardware on tuners, strap buttons, pots, switch, bridge and vibrato arm assembly.
