Check those cables and connections before you panic!
12/24/2002

It seems that around this time every year our Tech Support department receives an unusually high volume of basic "can't get it to work" types of questions. As we've reported before here (usually around this time every year) we generally find that 30% to 40% of these are directly or indirectly related to cabling: either a cable isn't connected right or a cable isn't working. This number has actually decreased in recent years as more and more studio cabling has disappeared inside of computers, but nevertheless it still seems to be a consistent problem. So our holiday tip to you if you are having problems is to stop, take a step back, cool down, and really go over all your cabling carefully. Disconnect and reconnect, even if you know you have it right. This process really helps you to think through how you are configuring things. Take a close look at the holes where you have things plugged in. Did you really get it in the audio output, or was that the foot pedal jack instead? Hey, it happens to the best of us. We've all made mistakes. It's important to take the time to check your work. Swap a cable out for a different one on the off chance that it's bad. If all else fails you know we are here to back you up.
