Q: I own a PRS Custom 22, and although I am thrilled with the guitar overall, I don't particularly care for the 5-way rotary selector switch. Is there a way to install the McCarty switching, which includes a 3-way toggle switch and a push-pull coil tap on the tone control?

A: Yes, this is definitely an option, though we do not recommend you try it yourself, as the hole to accommodate the 3-way toggle must be enlarged, which means drilling into the guitar top. A kit is available, and we suggest you talk to your Sweetwater Sales Engineer about having our Service Department do the modification for you. You can also have it done locally if you can find a qualified luthier. But remember that this will void your warranty if this is a new guitar and you either do the mod yourself or have it done by a service center that is not PRS-authorized.
