Windows XP's "Hidden On-Screen Keyboard"
11/09/2006

Has this ever happened to you? Suddenly your keyboard isn't responding. It might be something simple, like a cable that's come loose, but if not, you can use your mouse to get to Windows XP's on-screen keyboard. Open My Computer and browse to C:/Windows/System32, then double-click "osk.exe". The keyboard appears and operates using point-and-click commands. In most cases, you can use this keyboard to help diagnose and repair the original problem. It's also great if you find yourself "Lost" on an uncharted tropical island and need to enter a sequence of numbers into a computer, say every 108 minutes, but don't have a keyboard handy.
