Q: I'm a Pro Tools user, and I'm currently at what I believe is the latest version, 8.0.1. I see that Digidesign has pre-released a version of Pro Tools for Snow Leopard that is v8.0.3. What happened to version 8.0.2? Did I miss an upgrade? Or is 8.0.2 for the new Eleven Rack?

A: 8.0.1 is the latest "official" version of Pro Tools.

Version 8.0.3 is an "un-qualified" pre-release version of Pro Tools that is only compatible with Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6). When the "official," fully qualified version of 8.0.3 is released, it will support other versions of OS X, such as Leopard (10.5).

The Eleven Rack uses an update to version 8.0.1.

Version 8.0.2 is a special version of Pro Tools M-Powered Essential that is bundled with certain M-Audio hardware.

Unless you want to try out Pro Tools with Snow Leopard, you're Pro Tools system is current with version 8.0.1.
