Unlocking The Transport On TASCAM DA-98/88/38 After Error Detection
03/04/1998

From Sweetwater's own TASCAM DA-88 tech genius Mark (McGyver) Phillips comes the following DA-98/88/38 tip: We quite often receive DA type machines for service with the complaint: "Error xxx, then the tape won't eject." All TASCAM Multitrack units lock the transport on error detection. This is a safety feature to help assure you don't tear the tape. You must cycle the power to clear the error before you can eject the tape. Unless the error is with part of the tape loading/unloading mechanism you should be able to retrieve your tape even if your unit needs to come in for repair. Often times the power cycle solves the problem all together.

Our Customers Say...

When it came time to start from scratch with the studio, I had a lot of questions. The Sales Engineers I've worked with are really friendly and patient, and the guidance they provided was invaluable; they basically helped build the studio.
