Rebiasing after changing preamp tubes

Q: I've read that I can substitute 12au7 or 12at7 preamp tubes for the 12ax7 tubes in my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe guitar amp. Do I need to have the amp rebiased if I change the preamp tube type?

A: No, you shouldn't need to rebias when you change preamp tubes. However, if you change the power amp tubes, you should rebias.
