Custom Logic Pro Icons
02/02/2007

Apple's Logic Pro software includes track icons that you can select in the Arrange window to help you visually organize and identify your tracks. But what if the icon you want isn't in the list?

No problem! There are a number of sites on the web that contain free icons you can download - just do a search on "Logic Pro Icons," and you'll find an ever-growing list of sources. Or, you can make your own, if you're adept with Photoshop or other graphic software.

Once you download the icons you want, you have to re-name them - add a 3-digit number from 000 to 324 to the beginning of the file name, so, for example, "icon.png" becomes "247icon.png." This number determines where in the list of icons your new one will show up - number 000 will replace the first built-in Logic Icon, through 324, which will replace the last built-in Logic icon.

Place your custom icons in root/Library/Application Support/Logic/Images/Icons. If the "Images" and "Icons" folders don't appear on your system, create a folder named "Images" and place it in the Library/Application Support/Logic folder. Then create a folder named "Icons" and place it inside the Images folder.

Notes:

  • Icons with numbers greater than 324 will not appear in Logic.

  • Any icons you add will replace Logic's built-in icons. Just remove or renumber your new icons to bring back the original built-in icons.

  • By choosing the correct numbers for your icon names, you can arrange the icons in whatever order you like.

  • If you want to try rolling your own, the icons are 128x128 pixel png files, RGB, at 72dpi.
