Audio and ReWire in Logic Pro 7
01/26/2007

It's easy enough to route the audio from a ReWired application (such as Reason or DrumCore) into Logic Pro.

1. Launch Logic Pro.

2. Launch the ReWire application (we'll use Reason for our example). Most ReWire applications have some sort of indication that they are operating in "slave" mode. (Logic Pro has to be the ReWire master.)

3. Back in Logic, choose an Audio object in the Arrange window - an audio track, audio instrument, audio aux, aux bus, or whatever will be fine - Logic will configure the object for the ReWire input in the next step.

4. In the audio parameters area to the left of the track list in the Arrange window, click and hold on the "Channel" parameter value. In the pull-down menu that appears, choose "ReWire" (if your instrument is mono, this will be in the middle of the list, if it's stereo, it will appear near the bottom of the list.) To select the main stereo outputs from Reason, go down to "ReWire Stereo," select "Reason," then select "RW:Mix L/R."

That's all there is to it! The main stereo audio output from Reason will feed into Logic's mixer, and the Reason transport will lock up with and sync to the Logic transport (Play, Stop, etc.).

When you're finished, be sure to save your work in both Logic and the ReWired application, then quit the ReWire application first.
