Another in our series of tips on how to best get your band ready to make a television appearance.
For this TV tech tip, let's assume that the house band had an emergency and your band is taking their place for one show. It will not only be your job to play warm-up music before the show, but also for commercial breaks as well as entrance and exit music for the host's and guest's entrances and exit. If the show has two guests, you'll need at least 10 pieces of up-tempo music. Ballads and slow jams are out of the question. Nothing kills the energy of a live show faster than slow music. Why at least ten songs? If the show's host does a monolog, you'll play at her/his entrance and exit. Two guests mean four more pieces, and playing the same theme each time is out of the question. If the show is comprised of two standup comedians, and a desk interview segment at the end of the show, you can add two more themes. That brings us up to eight and we haven't factored in the warm up song and breaks.
