Vibratone
Built by Fender from 1967 to 1972, the Vibratone was based on the Leslie rotating speaker (then-Fender owner CBS also held the Leslie patents at the time). It had a single 15" driver above which sat a lightweight, spinning sound diffuser. Unlike true Leslie speakers, which weighed a ton, had rotating horns, an expensive wood finish and an onboard power amplifier, the Vibratone was designed to be plugged into the speaker output jack on almost any guitar amp. A footswitch let players select fast or slow speeds. Covered in black Tolex with metal corners, the Vibratone was quite roadworthy and matched the Fender amp color scheme of the time.
