Veneer
- In woodworking, "veneer" refers to a thin decorative sheet of wood that is typically glued and pressed onto core panels of different wood species. A perfect example of this process is the veneering of figured or flame maple onto the tops of mahogany guitar or bass guitar bodies. In this way, guitarists can have the beauty of a figured maple top without the cost associated with carving a maple top. Most people cannot see the difference unless it is pointed out to them. Woodworkers have actually used this technique for centuries.
