VESA: Acronym for Video Electronics Standards Association, an organization that sets all sorts of standards for handling video and multimedia data in PCs. Among other things VESA is responsible for the SVGA video standard, and the VESA Local Bus (sometimes known as VL-Bus), which is an interface standard for PCs that allows for high speed data transfer between the CPU and certain expansion cards (sort of like the ISA bus, but faster).
