Turnaround
- In blues, jazz and pop music, a turnaround is most often a 2-bar chord progression at the end of a verse, chorus, or bridge of a song that leads back to the beginning or opening chord, hence the name turnaround. A turnaround can also lead to another section of a song. For example, a turnaround at the end of a bridge can either lead back to the verse or to a chorus. The sequence of chords in a turnaround form a cadence that establishes either the tonic or the key of the section it leads to. Typically the chords used in the turnaround are I - VI - II - V, with each chord lasting two beats.
