Tarnish
- This is typically a thin layer of dull, hazy greyish corrosion that affects the semi-reactive metal parts of most guitars, such as stop tailpieces, tuners, and humbucker covers. Tarnish is somewhat similar to rust, but with a much slower rate of oxidation. However, if left untreated over a long period of time, eventually the metal will rust.
