Sound Field
- In stereo recordings, this represents the full range of panning options of an audio signal from left to right. In surround sound applications, this would include positions throughout the full 360 degree range (side-to-side and front-to-back). Over the years, there have been a number of attempts to widen or extend the sound field using hardware (as in the Carver Sonic Holography module) and software (as in the Waves S1 Stereo Imager).
