Sitka Spruce
- Native to the North American west coast, the Sitka Spruce is the world's largest species of spruce evergreen tree. The tree earns its name from the small Alaskan city-borough of Sitka, and it remains Alaska's main timber tree and the state tree of Alaska. Thanks to its knot-free appearance and high strength-to-weight ratio for powerful tone, Sitka has become a popular choice for crafting musical instruments, and is widely used today for piano soundboards, violin bodies, and acoustic guitar tops.
