Purfling
- Purfling is similar to binding in material and form, but purfling is generally considered to be the trim toward the inside of the instrument, whereas binding is along the edge of the instrument. Sometimes referred to as "marquetry," purfling often employs two or more laminated types of binding strips to create a specific design. Purfling is commonly a different color than the binding.
