Powered Speaker
A speaker with an internal (built-in) amplifier. To the tweaky, this is not the same as an "active" speaker, which would also include processing electronics, such as a crossover, filtering, or other circuits. Powered speakers may be models designed for use in the studio, as extension cabinets for guitar amp systems, as stage monitors, or as part of a live sound system.
