Morado
- Okay, it sounds like a vacation destination, but it's actually the name of a specific wood used in the construction of acoustic and electric guitars and basses (like the fingerboard on the Martin DX-1E). The Latin name for the species of tree this wood comes from is Machaerium villosum, but it's better known by its "common names": Pau Ferro, Bolivian Rosewood (though it's not actually in the rosewood family), and Iron Wood. The grain can range from plain to quite beautifully figured.
