Lithophone
- A term for percussion instruments made of stone or marble. For example, China has known temple instruments consisting of 16 L-shaped slabs, sometimes made of jade, which date back to the second millennium BC. In Britain, there is the Rock Harmonium, a huge instrument with basalt bars played by three or more people. It is preserved in a museum in Keswick, Cumbria.
