Jacaranda: This is the name of the tree from which Brazilian rosewood is obtained. It has a greater density, longer grain, and better (and more diverse) color variation than Indian rosewood. However, the export of Brazilian rosewood was banned in the mid-1960s. This makes any existing stocks much more valuable, as only ebony has a greater density for use in guitar fingerboards.
