IDC: This stands for Insulation Displacement Connector, which is a type of "plug and play" connector. It allows for connections without soldering or crimping any wire. Essentially, you just insert the wire and the connector does the rest, but it does require a special insertion tool. It makes the assembly of something like a multi-channel snake faster and less labor intensive.
