Embouchure
- (Pronounced om-boo-shoor) The application of the lips to the mouthpiece of a wind instrument, and the position of muscles, lips, jaws, and teeth necessary to hold that position. A wind player's embouchure is an integral part of his or her tone and allows the instrumentalist to play the instrument at its full range with a full, clear sound and without strain or damage to one's muscles.
