Baxandall Shelving Curve
Unlike traditional shelving EQ, which has a steep rise above the set frequency (i.e., 2kHz), a Baxandall shelving curve (named after Peter Baxandall) exhibits a gently rising slope (or falling if you are cutting at a certain frequency), which may sound more natural, depending upon its application. Some mastering engineers prefer the sound of this type of shelving EQ, since it is smoother and more natural.
