- This is audio industry jargon. The phrase 24/192 is the current shorthand method of expressing digital audio data with a bit depth of 24 bits and a sample rate of 192 kHz. 24/192 has become a widely used industry term in part because more and more hardware supports it. This is twice the sampling rate of the previous highest standard, which was 24 bits at 96kHz.
