12-bar Blues
This is the most common form of the blues, so named because it refers to the number of measures (12) or musical bars used to express the theme of the "typical" blues song, usually in 4/4 time. The 12-bar blues form is a progression that's divided into three four-bar segments and typically features three chords based upon the first, fourth and fifth notes of an 8-note scale.
