|Sweetwater Hires 30 New Employees|
| - Music Technology Retailer Strengthens Sales Force -
Fort Wayne, IN, February 27, 2008 - Sweetwater, the fourth-largest music instrument and pro audio retailer in the world, according to Music Trades magazine, has hired 30 new employees. Thirteen are new Sales Engineers, eight of whom were recruited from outside Indiana. The new hires bring total employment at Sweetwater to 325.
New Sales Engineers include:
Trent Thompson is a Deland, Florida native with a recording degree from Full Sail recording school. He has eight years of experience as a recording engineer, the last three with his own studio.
Sales Engineer Evan Gilmore hails from Noblesville, Indiana and is a recent graduate with a degree in Music Business from Anderson University.
Mac McDonough is a Fort Wayne native. In addition to considerable experience recording and making music, he has been an officer for the Allen County Probation Department. He holds a degree from Indiana University South Bend in psychology and a certificate from the Audio Institute of America.
Alex Johnson is from Oviedo, Florida and is a graduate of the recording arts program at Full Sail in Orlando. He was recently on international tour with the band Shades of Green, playing bass guitar and keyboards.
Ed Needler is a Fort Wayne resident with ten years experience in sales in the home improvement and automotive sales industries, as well as ten years as a manufacturer's representative in electronic components. He is a graduate of Purdue University.
Chris McCown is from North Aurora, Illinois and a recent graduate of the Music Industry Workshop in Chicago. He has retail sales background with Kohl's, as well as freelance engineering experience.
Bob Furlong is from Newark, Delaware with a Masters degree in education from Wilmington University. He spent five years in customer service with Amazon.com and several years as a full-time musician.
Ben Price grew up north of Chicago, but spent the past ten years in the Atlanta area as manager of two well-known studios, including his own, where he was chief engineer, studio manager, and producer. He is a graduate of the recording arts program at Full Sail.
Stuart Niven is from Brisbane, Australia, where he worked as a musician and freelance engineer/record producer for 15 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The Conservatory of Music in Queensland, Australia.
Daniel Lawson is a native of Klamath Falls, Oregon. He moved to Fort Wayne from the Orlando area after completing his Associates degree in recording arts at Full Sail.
Nathan Heironimus is from Springfield, Ohio. He has a Bachelors degree from the music business program at Anderson University, where he also worked as a recording engineer.
Michael Faz is a Fort Wayne native with a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from Indiana Wesleyan. He was the band director for four years for DeKalb County Eastern Schools and more recently ran his own company sequencing musical scores for school productions.
Andy Bitler is another Fort Wayne native. He has an Associates degree in audio technologies from Indiana University.
Other new employees include:
Dylan Ankney joins the Sweetwater family as the Director of Technical Services for the Performance Theater. Ankney has over 20 years experience with live sound and performance. He was most recently in charge of audio and video for The House of Blues in San Diego, but also has extensive sound reinforcement experience in both corporate and worship environments. He has owned his own mobile recording studio for nine years, worked with advertising agencies, composed and performed music for film and commercials, and worked with the luthiers at Taylor Guitars. He is a native of Defiance, Ohio.
Assistant Chef Marc Robinson holds a degree from Vincennes University and is a graduate of the culinary arts program at Ivy Tech. He has worked in catering and as a chef at The Summit Club.
Tech Support Technician Dave Askew is from Binghamton, New York and is an Army School of Music graduate. His most recent position was with Guitar Center as a sales associate in pro audio.
Risk Management Analyst Joan Sadilek spent several years as a mortgage auditor. She is originally from Columbia City, Indiana.
Human Resource Administrator Jennifer Strebig has a Bachelors degree in human resources from the University of Toledo and a Masters in business from Indiana Wesleyan. She has held several HR positions over the past 12 years, most recently as HR Director at Kitty Hawk.
Sales Assistant Courtney Herring has a Bachelors degree in telecommunications from Indiana University and retail/customer service experience with Hobby Lobby and Centennial Wireless.
Eight new Shipping Specialists have also been added to the staff of Sweetwater's Distribution Center, and two new Receptionists and one security officer have joined the company.
Sweetwater Founder and President Chuck Surack remarked, "We're excited to be bringing so many bright young people aboard to strengthen the sales force. Without question, our new facility is helping us with recruiting on a national basis."
