Sweetwater Celebrates 10 Years Of inSync

- Leading music technology retailer pioneered blog-style music industry news -

Sweetwater Sound Inc., the fifth-largest music instrument and pro audio retailer in the world, according to Music Trades magazine, and one of the fastest-growing companies in the industry, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of inSync, the first daily Internet newsletter for musicians and recording enthusiasts and professionals.

Every business day for the past ten years, in a special feature called inSync at its www.sweetwater.com website, Sweetwater has posted industry news, new product information, news of new product arrivals, and two tremendous resources: the Word for the Day and Tech Tip of the Day.

To date, well over 2,000 music and technology-related terms have been compiled in the Word for the Day glossary, with a new one added each day. It's literally become a technical dictionary for the industry, and is consulted daily by recording studios and schools. The Tech Tip of the Day contains everything from answers to questions the company receives, to helpful tips and tidbits for getting more out of music technology, to problem fixes, to news on technical issues.

"This is something else we're very proud of," remarks Sweetwater founder and president Chuck Surack. "More than a decade ago, Sweetwater was one of the first retailers to have a presence on the fledgling Internet. There was nothing like inSync available in our industry; there might have been one or two other newsletters in other industries, but it was pretty revolutionary at the time. Now that I think about it, I guess we were blogging long before the term was even invented."

With the daily flood of information, inSync is even more vital today; Sweetwater's team combs the web and talks to manufacturers every day to bring together all the relevant information they can find, then distills it down into bite-sized chunks. In addition, each week's daily inSync issues are compiled and sent out to subscribers on Friday night. An RSS feed is also available. inSync remains totally free, and contains no ads or sales pitches.

Surack added, "We really don't get anything for it. But I like the fact that we're giving back to the industry and helping people stay up to date. I read it myself every day to stay on top of what's happening."
