|Noted Musicians, Grammy-Nominated Producer Appear At Annual Fest|
| Part entertainment event, part flea market and part musician's toyland, Sweetwater's GearFest 2004 rolls into Fort Wayne Saturday, August 28. The festival takes place on Sweetwater grounds at 5335 Bass Road from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Artists appearing at the free celebration, which drew more than 1000 musicians and fans last year, include guitarist Chuck Yamek, who recorded and toured with Natalie Cole, Donna Summer, and New Edition. Yamek also appeared on The Tonight Show and other network television programs. Also performing will be Mike Snyder, a studio drummer who has been heard on television's Home Improvement and Roseanne and in the films The Little Mermaid and Spaceballs.
Two fan-favorite events return to this year's show: a free guitar setup and restringing service and a musicians' flea market, where used equipment can be bought, sold or traded. Potential vendors should call (260) 432-8176 to pre-register.
A full slate of seminars is scheduled to help musicians improve their performing and recording skills. One notable presenter is three-time Grammy nominee Bob Clearmountain, recording engineer and producer for artists ranging from Bruce Springsteen to American Idol Clay Aiken.
In addition, nearly 70 manufacturers of musical instruments and audio equipment will be on hand to give musicians a first look at new gear. Many products were just announced at the National Association of Music Merchants Summer Session held last month.
This is Sweetwater's third annual GearFest and it coincides with the music technology retailer's 25th anniversary. There is no admission charge but registration is required at the event or online at www.sweetwater.com.
